Cumbria Film, TV and Podcast Studios

Carlisle · Cumbria · Lake District

Cumbria finally has
a film studio.

Two purpose-built studios, a green room and a production office on the historic Crofton Hall estate — 15 minutes from Carlisle. Green screen, podcast, photography and live streaming under one roof.

The space

Two studios.
One complete
production base.

The Lake District pulls production into Cumbria every year. Until now there was nowhere to base it. Cumbria Film Studios gives crews, agencies and content teams a proper facility on their doorstep — so the budget stays here instead of driving to Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow.

01

Studio One

650 sq ft. Green screen infinity cove, blackout curtain space, full kitchen set and a rustic wood background.

02

Studio Two

450 sq ft. Three-camera podcast suite, photography space with six paper backgrounds, plus a workshop area.

03

Green Room

Somewhere for guests and clients to settle. Changing room, toilet, tea and coffee — and a Nintendo 64.

04

Production Office

Three desks for planning, calls, live monitoring, edits and client work without crowding the studio floor.

Built for the shoot day

Four looks
in one room.

Studio One switches between a green screen infinity cove, a full blackout curtain space, a working kitchen set and a rustic reclaimed wood wall — without striking the room and starting again.

Getting here

Closer than
you think.

The room adapts.

Hire a single space by the hour, take a studio for the day, or book the whole facility and run a full production from one address.

Turn up with a laptop
or a full unit.

Camera, lighting and grip packages are available on top of any studio booking, and our crewing service helps you source experienced local crew rather than importing a team from three hours away.

Built by someone who has done it before

Twenty years of
production, brought
home to Cumbria.

Founder Ben Phoenix has been making films since 2005 and built his first green screen studio from an empty shell in Birmingham in 2012. That studio worked with national broadcasters and commercial clients for years. Cumbria Film Studios applies the same thinking to a region that has never had a facility of its own.
