Cumbria Film Studios operates from within a vast Victorian structure built in 1872, benefiting from the characteristically large rooms and high ceilings associated with this period. While the Lake District is no stranger to big-budget productions – most recently Star Wars: Episode VII – Cumbria Film Studios will be the first production house established on a permanent basis. This means that the Lakes are now a great location both logistically and artistically.
Throughout the building, there is a noticeable fusion of the traditional charm and character of yesteryear meeting with the modern minimalism associated with London’s top production houses.
Workington train station is within a minute’s walk and there is easy access to the M6 meaning getting to and from the building could not be easier.
Cumbria Film Studios is strategically positioned to breach the void between Glasgow and Manchester and aims to capitalise upon the marvels offered by the Lake District.
Positioned on the western coast, whatever direction you choose to look will be met with a scenic view, be it the expansive Solway Firth or the region’s renowned lakes and mountains which are within a 15 minute drive.
